Overview of Responsibilities:
Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Marketing and Communications will be a strategic leader and key contributor in defining and building processes in this early-stage company. This individual will be responsible for setting and executing successful communication strategies and building out the necessary infrastructure to carry out those strategies. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding and passion for social justice communications and marketing, progressive leadership experience, and a willingness to be hands-on to support a high-growth non-profit organization as it scales and enters new communities.
The position reports to the CEO with strategic oversight from the COS. This position will be based in the Newark area.
Responsibilities:
- Develop a best-in-class marketing vision and strategy to support long-term brand building in alignment with non-profit objectives
- Own Project Ready’s external voice to the community by monitoring and setting the tone for all external communications
- Leverage understanding and passion for the communities we serve to drive a resonant communication strategy that engages diverse populations
- Develop, execute, and monitor social media presence across various platforms, including content strategy and creation, acquisitions, and campaigns
- Build and oversee marketing and communications department initiatives
- Partner with key leaders across the organization to build and implement marketing and communication strategies that drive the achievement of membership growth objectives and c3 campaign win’s
- Proactively monitor market dynamics, including competitive activity and member feedback, to appropriately inform and shape a competitive communications strategy
- Understand and foresee internal and external risks, and deploy communication strategies to protect Project Ready’s reputation in alignment with organizations values
- Formulate and execute the annual marketing plan, with a focus on strategies to support brand reputation and awareness
Ability to manage multiple consultants working toward a collective end goal
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Demonstrated experience building innovative and successful marketing and communication strategies in an early-stage, high-growth environment
- Ability to understand business objectives and translate them into compelling narratives
- Experience building successful partnerships with internal and external partners to achieve business objectives
- Deep understanding of healthcare communications, marketing, and the surrounding regulations
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex subjects into simple, compelling narratives
- Strong leadership ability and experience managing and developing high-performing teams
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 3+ years of progressive marketing and communications experience
- Experience leading local and national non-profit communications and marketing campaigns for social justice organizations
- Experience developing and monitoring social media strategies to drive member engagement
